Saturday Night Live Creator Teases Season 50 Plans, ‘We’ll Bring Everyone Back’

Saturday Night Live is encroaching on its 48th season, and that means the 50th anniversary is approaching. The late-night show had several cast members that catapulted him into big stardom, with the executive producer believing they would return for this momentous occasion. While celebrating the 48th season, Lorne Michael revealed that they will be bringing the entire cast back to celebrate the 50th anniversary. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Michael told them about his plans for the big anniversary.

“The 50th is going to be a big event,” Michaels said. “We’re going to bring everyone back from the 50s and the hosts and all of that. It’s going to be something very emotional and powerful. There won’t be a lot to add, I can tell you a lot.”

Some new faces have already been confirmed for Season 48, but Marcelo Hernandez, Molly Kearney, Michael Longfellow and Devon Walker are all set to be featured players. Among the cast members who will appear to be returning include Sarah Sherman, James Austin Johnson, Bonky Johnson, Bowen Young, Andrew Desmox, Chloe Feynman, Keenan Thompson, Cecily Strong, Ego Nodim, Heidi Gardner, Mickey Day, Colin Jost and Michael Che.

The prospect of ending SNL has been a big part of the rumor mill in recent years with Keenan Thompson even tackling hte’s idea that iw could end after reaching Season 50.

“I mean, there could be a lot of truth to this rumor because 50 is a good number to stop at, you know what I’m saying, it’s an incredible package. [Michaels] He’d be, you know, close to 80 at that point, and you know, the one who touched him in the whole thing, “Kenan told Charlemagne tha God.” So if someone tries to come home in shoes, you know it’s a good opportunity for NBC as well, you know what I’m saying, so maybe they cut the budget. And then at this point, you can’t do the same kind of show, so it’s unfair to watch it go into some kind of fire or anything like it on the ground because of those restrictions, you know what I’m saying. And it would be something different, so setting it at 50 might not be a bad idea, I don’t know. “

Saturday Night Live Season 48 premieres Saturday, October 1, on NBC and Peacock.
